The Restricted-Entry Interval (REI) is the legally mandated time immediately following a pesticide application during which entry into the treated area is restricted. Posting signs and preventing unprotected entry by staff or golfers is a federal requirement under the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) and a fundamental ethical obligation of an IPM program.
